Although the May 5 2020 update (ver 2004) for Windows 10 does not have many changes in features and interface, Microsoft has revamped many mechanisms to make it more efficient. One of the noteworthy improvements is the Windows Search system and thanks to this improvement, the obnoxious 100% Full Disk status that will make everything sluggish will be solved.

Windows Search allows us to search everything on the system, this tool has been available from many previous versions of Windows and the general mechanism is still to index (index) files stored on the hard drive, thereby helping them. we search faster, called results. The problem is that when the indexing process takes place, it will "squeeze" the hard drive due to constant random access. This causes Task Manager to notify the Full Disk hard drive, thereby causing the computer to slow down.

With the new update, Windows Search will be able to perform indexing over a more reasonable time. It "knows" when you do not actively use the machine to conduct indexing, thereby avoiding affecting performance.

According to initial tests of WindowsLatest, the performance is clearly improved on older computers or machines that still use mechanical hard drives (HDDs) instead of high-speed solid state drives (SSDs). However, in addition to the hard drive, Windows Search when indexing also uses a lot of CPU resources and the new update also improves this. Microsoft is still tweaking Windows Search and will use algorithms to help Windows Search work more efficiently and smarter.
